RealMedia

Brand name describing file formats, server software, player software, and protocols used by streaming media systems from RealNetworks, a leading streaming media platform vendor.

Referrer

The URL of the Web page from which a visitor came, as indicated by a server's referrer log file. Some CDNs use referrers as a basic method for user authentication.

Rich Media

Rich media is a term for advanced technology used in Internet ads, such as streaming video, applets that allow user interaction, and special effects.

RM

RealMedia is a proprietary multimedia container format created by RealNetworks. Its extension is ".rm". It is typically used in conjunction with RealVideo and RealAudio and is used for streaming content over the Internet.

RTSP

Real Time Streaming Protocol is a network control protocol designed for use in entertainment and communications systems to control streaming media servers. The protocol is used for establishing and controlling media sessions between end points. Clients of media servers issue VCR-like commands, such as play and pause, to facilitate real-time control of playback of media files from the server.
